What is Late Night Service? Late Night Service is a drop-off-only service. Please board the bus for either Northeast, Northwest, Southeast or Southwest Oakville at 11:30 p.m. and 12:25 a.m., East and West Oakville at 1:25 a.m. Let the driver know the nearest bus stop to your destination. The driver will then create a drop-off route on the spot.
Where do they go? Buses route within the Town of Oakville and make connections to Burlington Transit and Mississauga's MiWay. The connection for Burlington Transit are at Lakeside Village Plaza and Rio Can Centre on Burloak Drive. The connections for Mississauga are at South Common Centre on Erin Mills Parkway and at the Clarkson GO Station. Passengers can also make connections to other buses where the routes connect or overlap.
How do I pay? You can pay with cash (exact fare - no change available on board), PRESTO farecard or with Oakville Transit tickets or monthly passes previously purchased at ticket agents. Valid GO Train tickets accompanied by a pass or exact fare for the GO Fare Integration Program are accepted as well. For more information in regards to our fare media, please visit our Fares and Policies page.
Can I bring my bicycle onboard? All Oakville Transit buses are equipped with bike racks on the front of the bus. Passengers who wish to use a bike rack would simply indicate to the driver that they would like to place their bike on the rack. The instructions for how to use the bike rack are as simple as 1-2-3, and are posted on the front of the vehicle. Bikes are not permitted on board the buses, only in the bike racks.
During the winter, some drivers have the temperature in the bus quite high while the passengers are bundled up against the cold. Why do they have the bus so warm? Under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the bus is defined as the drivers work place and many drivers spend up to eight hours driving. As all of us are aware, driving with a big heavy parka on is difficult and uncomfortable at the best of times. As a result of the time spent driving and the Occupational and Safety Act requiring an employer to provide a safe and healthy workplace, the drivers are entitled to heat their workplace to their comfort level.
Often the wire baskets by the shelters and stops are overflowing with garbage. Why doesn't Oakville Transit empty these on a regular basis? Region of Halton collects the garbage from the wire baskets around the shelters and some bus stops of Oakville Transit. When we receive a call we immediately pass the information on to the Region who then contacts the contractor. Oakville Transit does not have the staff or the equipment to empty the wire baskets.
Who do I call if I have lost an item on the bus? Please call our main line at 905-815-2020, and ask for "lost and found" to find out if your item has been found. All lost and found items must be claimed at our office at 430 Wyecroft Road, during our office hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
