Oakville Transit customers can pay using exact cash, valid paper transfer, PRESTO card loaded with cash value or a monthly pass product, a paper monthly pass or paper ticket (seniors and special use tickets only). Bus drivers do not sell fares or carry change. Customers may be asked to present their paper fare to the driver for validation.

Children 0-5 years of age ride for free when accompanied by a fare paying adult.

Adult (20 to 64 years and post-secondary students)

Exact cash fare - $3.50 per ride
Monthly pass - $105 per month

University, college, and adult education students (any age) must pay adult fare.

Child/Student (6 to 19 years who are attending primary or full time secondary school only)

Exact cash fare - $3.50 per ride
Monthly pass - $70 per month

Student Freedom Monthly Pass - $15

The Student Freedom Pass is valid for unlimited travel by full-time primary and secondary school students on weekday evenings after 4 p.m. and all day on weekends and statutory holidays. During March Break and the months of July and August, pass holders can take unlimited rides all day, all times, all week. The Student Freedom Pass is not available on PRESTO at this time.

Student tickets are no longer accepted on Oakville Transit buses as of January 1, 2014.

Senior (65 years and over)

Exact cash fare - $3.50 per ride
Tickets - 10 for $17.50
Monthly Pass - $50 per month

Seniors must show proof of age with tickets or monthly pass, upon request from the driver. Proof of age not required when using a PRESTO card.

Seniors ride free on Mondays!

Seniors (65 years and over) can ride free all day, on all routes every Monday. Seniors are asked to be prepared to show proof of age if required.

GO Transit riders

All GO Transit riders, regardless of age, pay $0.75 to ride Oakville Transit to and from the GO train or bus. Conditions apply; visit our connecting services page for details.


PRESTO cards can be loaded with cash value or a monthly pass. Reloadable PRESTO cards are $6 each and are available online at prestocard.ca or at any of these authorized agents in Oakville:

If loading cash value, a minimum value of $10 must be added to the card at the time of purchase.

PRESTO cards for students or seniors must be programmed in person at a PRESTO agent to ensure the user receives the fare discount. Once programmed, students and senior cards can be loaded online or at an authorized PRESTO agent.

Monthly bus passes for Oakville Transit can be loaded onto a PRESTO card, but only at one of the authorized agents listed above. When loading a monthly pass, the full amount for the pass must be loaded before the start of any calendar month. Monthly passes are non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be converted to regular cash value on the PRESTO card.

PRESTO cards also can be purchased, programmed and loaded with cash value only at the Oakville, Bronte and Clarkson GO Transit stations.

Individual fare discounts are available with PRESTO’s current loyalty program, and are based on the number of rides taken and the value accumulated within the calendar month.

Adult 1-37 rides in same month ($2.70 each); additional rides that month are free.
Child/Student 1-30 rides in same month ($2.20 each); additional rides that month are free.
Senior 1-29 rides in same month ($1.75 each); additional rides that month are free.

Riding with care — travelling with a support person

A support person can now travel free-of-charge on Oakville Transit buses when accompanying someone with a disability who has an identified medical requirement for support.

One support person will be allowed per individual per trip, but the support person may change. All persons with a disability, who wish to have a support person travel with them, must obtain an Oakville Transit Support Person ID Card and present it to the bus driver for each trip that includes a support person. Subsidized Passes for Low-income Transit (SPLIT)
